On 25th May, regular LBhealthcare gym user Charles Brisley will be rowing 32 km to help raise money for Hamble Lifeboat Station Appeal.
Hamble Lifeboat is looking to raise £500k to build a new Station to replace their outdated and now inadequate prefabricated Boathouse.
Founded in 1968, Hamble Lifeboat has attended thousands of emergencies, helped many thousands of people to safety and saved hundreds of lives. However the current Station, erected 30 years ago, is now too small, inadequately equipped and falls far short of modern health and safety standards, making it unable to cope with increase in call outs in recent years. Coupled with the increasing demands on crew training due to stringent regulations and new lifeboat code of practice, Hamble Lifeboat can no longer manage with their old prefabricated Station.
“I enjoy sailing and crew on a yacht based on the Hamble,” said Charles. “My position on a yacht is usually as ‘mast man’ which requires a good level of fitness and strength for hoisting sails, spinnakers and very fast sail changes, and I find rowing on the Concept 2 rowing machine at LBhealthcare helps me maintain the level of fitness I require. I’ve decided to complete a sponsored row of 32 km (approximately 20 miles) on Saturday 25th May at LB Healthcare to help raise money for the Hamble Lifeboat because of the lifesaving service they provide, which is entirely on a voluntary basis. Please help me raise money for the new Lifeboat Station by sponsoring me.”
If you would like to sponsor Charles you can do so by donating on his Just Giving page here or by texting BRIS75 plus the amount you wish to sponsor to 70070.
