When the word ‘OSTEOPATH’ is mentioned; people seem to think about bones …. BUT…. unknown to many, Osteopaths do a lot more than just ‘treat’ your bones.
Osteopaths are often described as treating the individual presentation rather than the condition. As well as addressing the symptoms presented by each patient they also consider the biological, psychological and social factors which may be influencing patients symptoms; instead of viewing symptoms or injuries in isolatio…n.
Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal itself. Osteopathic care focuses on strengthening the musculoskeletal system and facilitating the self healing processes. Osteopaths’ patient-centred approach to health and well-being means they consider symptoms in the context of the patient’s full medical history, as well as their lifestyle and personal circumstances. This holistic approach ensures that all treatment is tailored to the patient as an individual.
Osteopaths work to ensure the best possible care for their patients, aiding their recovery and supporting them to help manage their conditions through a range of approaches, including physical manipulation/massage of the musculoskeletal system to education and advice on exercise, diet and lifestyle.
