LBhealthcare is delighted to now be able to add Osteopathy to its growing list of therapies, services and classes.
Experienced and enthusiastic young Dawn Hammond has joined the Alternative Therapists Team and will be offering Osteopathy Clinics on Saturdays 1pm – 4pm, Tuesdays 4pm – 8pm, Wednesdays 1.30pm – 8pm and Fridays 8am – 12.30pm.
Osteopathy is suitable for almost anyone and can be used to relieve the symptoms from a wide range of conditions, using the principles that the body contains self-healing mechanisms and that ideally all parts of the body should function together in an integrated manner.
Dawn explains:
If one part of the body is restricted, then the rest of the body must adapt and compensate for this eventually leading to an imbalance between central and sympathetic nervous systems. This potentially results in inflammation, pain, stiffness and other health problems.
Osteopaths treat the whole person rather than specific conditions – for example, an injury to your knee might also affect the foot, hip and spine.
Dawn retrained as an Osteopath and sports massage therapist after a 9 year career in Information Technology as a computer programmer based in London. She studied Osteopathy at the British School of Osteopathy in London and graduated with a distinction and the principal’s prize for clinical excellence. She treated patients in a general clinic in London for two years and in a number of specialist clinics including children up to 6 years of age, patients with HIV, pregnant ladies and elderly and disabled patients.
Although I enjoyed programming I’ve always had an interest in the workings of the human body, health and in people. I am particularly interested in making people feel better and get the most out of themselves.
After working and training in London for many years I’ve now settled back home here and I’m very much looking forward to working for a clinic with such a great reputation and working on the sunny south coast!
