Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is the treatment of a wide range of conditions in a heated pool environment.

The warmth of the water relaxes the muscles, buoyancy assists or resists movement and the weightlessness decreases pain and stress on the joints.

LBhealthcare has one of the largest ozone hydrotherapy pools in the UK. At 8.4 metres long, 5 metres wide and 1.2 metres deep at the shallow end (increasing to 1.5 metres at the deep end)  it gives us great scope and flexibility to treat many conditions. It is generally maintained at over 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius) and contains a jacuzzi. The temperature recommended for Hydrotherapy by the UK Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group is 30 – 35 degrees Celsius.

Our hydrotherapy pool is used for self-hydrotherapy, hydrotherapy with a therapist (1-2-1) and for many Aquatone Classes aimed at people of different fitness levels and abilities.

Some of the conditions that may benefit from hydrotherapy include:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis

Spinal conditions

  • Spinal surgery
